Gothic townhouses, a castle above the roofs and a modern sculpture museum: a quieter Bavarian town choice.
Landshut’s long streets of coloured Gothic façades are the starting point, not the whole visit. St Martin rises above the old town, Trausnitz looks down from the hill and the museums add sculpture, local history and changing exhibitions. The Isar gives you somewhere to walk when another interior would be too much.
Two days are a good first fit; three leave space for museums and slower meals. Four or five would need a particular interest or a separately checked extension. Stadtresidenz remains closed and is not part of this suggestion.

Plan an indoor Bavarian inn meal rather than relying on a beer garden being open. Gasthof Hofreiter is a local lead with regional cooking; look at its current menu before deciding what to order. A beer garden is an extra when the season and weather suit it. The Irseer beer advertised there comes from outside Landshut. Calling it Bavarian is useful context; calling it a Landshut brew would be wrong. Keep room for a bakery or café stop between the old town and the museums.

Must try
Use the current menu at a local inn such as Hofreiter; seasonal dishes and dietary choices need checking with the venue.
Hofreiter advertises Irseer beer. It is a Bavarian connection, not a claim that the beer is brewed in Landshut.
The town’s scale suits a sit-down pause, rather than filling every gap with another monument.

Gothic façades, squares and the historic street pattern. Treat as one coherent town walk, not two filler activities.
Treat the castle and Chamber of Curiosities as one substantial visit. Allow for the climb or arrange local access, and check current tour and seasonal opening arrangements.
Modern sculpture gives the town a different cultural subject. Normally Tuesday–Sunday 10–17; check holiday exceptions.
