About
Wendelse started with a simple question: if you've got a few days free, where could you actually go from your local airport?
Not just the places on the departures board. The places beyond them too.
For those of us who'd rather take several interesting short breaks than wait all year for one big holiday, choosing where to go isn't always easy. You know when you can travel and how long you've got — you just don't necessarily know where those few days could take you.
Most travel sites start by asking where you want to go.
Wendelse starts with where you're leaving from, when you can travel and what you'd enjoy doing when you get there.
Then it looks beyond the obvious airport destinations.
A flight to Basel could lead to a weekend in Colmar. Geneva can open up Annecy. Bologna puts Modena within easy reach.
The airport isn't necessarily the destination. Sometimes it's just the beginning of the interesting bit.
Wendelse isn't a travel agent, and it isn't trying to become another site filled with hundreds of flights and hotels.
Its job comes earlier.
It's here to help you discover places that fit the time you have available, show you how you could get there without needing a car, and help you decide whether somewhere feels worth a few precious days away.
Once you've found the trip you want to take, you can make the final bookings with the relevant airlines, rail companies, hotels and other providers.
Wend means to make your way or set off on a journey. Else suggests somewhere different.
Put them together and you get Wendelse — a little reminder to look beyond the obvious destination and ask:
Where else could you go?
Wendelse uses transport information to work out how places connect and whether a journey looks practical for a short break.
It's a discovery tool rather than a live booking service, and timetables, routes and availability can change. Always check the final details with the relevant transport provider before you travel.
