Dublin

Ireland

Literature, political history and live performance give a compact capital more substance than its pub-centred image suggests.

Dublin’s compact centre can look slight beside larger capitals until its institutions and stories are joined up. Georgian squares, colonial administration, revolution, literature, theatre and pub music occupy a small area but do not tell the same version of Ireland.

Three or four days is the strongest shape. A fifth can work for deeper museums and neighbourhood time, but coastal outings are not used to raise the city’s score. High accommodation costs materially weaken the ease of the proposition.

4 days is ideal for Dublin.

Why Wendelse likes it

History

Viking origins, British administration, rebellion, independence and civil conflict can be followed through strong museums and sites.

Culture & Atmosphere

Literature, theatre, traditional music and pub conversation remain unusually central to the city’s identity.

Food & Drink

Seafood, soda bread, coddle and stout matter, but modern Irish cooking and international neighbourhood restaurants prevent the city being reduced to pub staples.

Nothing else planned. That's deliberate.
